Mytos·Brand identity and product design for Mytos, a London-based startup that automates cell culture. Cell therapies can treat conditions from bone fractures to corneal blindness, but growing cells by hand is slow and unreliable. Mytos builds machines that automate it at scale.
At the heart of the brand is a logomark derived from cell division — an abstract representation of the possibilities that emerge through automation. I paired it with vibrant colours and friendly typography to create a contemporary identity aimed at scientists, designed to feel inspiring rather than clinical. The work was documented as a brand book and design system for the team to build on.
Their iDEM platform lets scientists manage up to thirty machines running dozens of concurrent protocols. The core design challenge was trust. If researchers don't believe the automation, they check by hand and save no time. I focused on making the process visible so scientists can see what's happening and let the machine work.
Mytos is a Y Combinator company that has since raised over $24M, partnered with clinical-stage companies including Aspen Neuroscience and Rinri Therapeutics, and now operates automated manufacturing sites for regenerative medicine.
